Nelson City Rod and Custom Club |
History of the Nelson City Rod and Custom Club The club was started back in 1973 by Lloyd Heyward; he was also the clubs first president. Other founding members include: Ian Jones (current president) Tony Cook, Kevin Renwick and Bevan Bennett. The very first club meeting was held in Tony Cook’s father’s garage in Stoke, there are a lot of stories that could be told from here. The Nelson Hot Rod Club is only one of a few clubs of its kind in New Zealand to still have 5 – 6 founding members fully involved after 30 years. We are a licensed premise and have held many National Street Rod, National Hotrod shows and provincial events to fundraise our building in Tahunanui, Nelson. Our clubrooms are also available for hire for Weddings. 21 st’s, in fact for any occasion at very reasonable rates. We will even supply the bar manager for your function. Every Friday night we have a social evening where members (and their friends/family) are welcome to come and have a few drinks, listen to some awesome music on the juke box and share some laughs and some fun. We have Gym Kana’s and Swap meets and all manner of fun with our cars, we have special club trips and are involved in a raft of other Nelson events. If something’s missing in your life, it could be us! Maybe you just want to meet new people and make really good friends?
